I came across this hat, all i can say is - I LOVE IT!! Thanks for posting it! I can't get on with dpns, so i tried it on straight needles and it worked out ok.
I knit for a charity called Bonnie Babies - www.bonniebabies.co.uk - so will be knitting more for them.

What a perfect little hat. I will be making this one for sure.

Thanks for posting the pattern.

when you say-row, is that like when you stitch across, then switch needles and stitch across to make a row? or do you mean a row as you stitch across to the end of the needle and then get ready to start the next needle/row?

I'm only doing scarves right now, actually for charity for a family shelter of abuse victims. I'm new to understanding patterns.
Thanks! Good luck!

Great job on the 40 hats for Lent. Maybe I'll try that next year, although I clearly knit much slower than you do! Kudos! momoffour

What size is this pattern for? 6 mo 12 mo?
Kelly said…
Its a large preemie/small newborn size.
If you want to make it bigger just cast on in increments of 8 and add a few more rows.

Im horrible at math. So if I wanted a 12 mo and a 3 yo I would add how many increments and rows? Also after the k2tog it says around, does that mean continue k for the rest of stitches? Thanks so much for help, I can't wait to start this cute hat!

I don't really know myself. I just know that for the pattern to work you need a multiple of 8 stitches.

Which row # are you asking about?

What is the gauge for this hat My yarn is 3.5 st per " on size 9 needles Thanks!
Kelly said…
I don't know the guage, sorry. Since I make them for the hospital exact size isn't important.

Thanks Kelly, I'm making this for a newborn, would you anticipate it should fit - in the first 6 months?
Kelly said…
Yes, I do. You could always cast on another 8 stitches and the pattern will still work. But its pretty stretchy.

I just started working on this pattern last night. It's my first time using dpns and knitting in the round and it's going really well. Thanks for posting this pattern, it's just what i was looking for!

I made this hat in a couple of hours. I didn't have circular needles, so I used straight and seamed it. I used size 8 US because my gauge tends to run large. I used Sugar n Spice 100% cotton DK weight yarn. I posted it on Ravelery and gave you props. I will knit one to give away as I think that is an awesome price for this pattern. Thank you. Kellys Sweater

Easy Print PDF:Kelly's Sweater 6-9M

Simply Soft yarn, size G7 hook
Size ( to make larger use a larger hook)

edited January 2009: I have recently taken measurements of this sweater and compared to baby size charts and this sweater is larger than I thought, the new size is 6-9 months not newborn if made with a G hook and Simply Soft yarn.

Here are the measurements of my sweater:
Neckline: 12"
Chest: 19" measured under arm
Sleeves: 4" from under arm to wrist.
Sleeves SHOULD be 5" so add 2 rows to length.

Gauge of my sweater is 4 stitches=1 inch and 2 rows= 1 inch.
