This dress should fit a 6-8 lb newborn baby.
The Lavender dress is made with Pound of Love yarn, and the other is made with Simply Soft yarn in Off White and Soft Pink.
G7 hook
light WW yarn such as Simply Soft or Pound of love.
Bodice-
Ch 36
row 1: DC in 4th CH from hook and next 3 chs,
3DC in next ch,
DC in next 5 chs,
3DC in next ch,
DC in next 10 chs,
3DC in next ch,
DC in next 5 chs,
3DC in next ch,
DC in last 5 chs. Ch 2, turn.
rows 2-5: DC in each DC across, putting 3DC in center DC of 3 DC group below.
Ch 2, turn.
row 6: DC across to center of first 3dc group, ch 4, dc in center of second 3dc group,
DC across to center of third 3dc group, ch 4, DC in last 3dc group, DC to end.
Ch 1, turn.

rows 7-10: HDC in first st and each st across. Ch 1, turn.
Join at end of row 10. edited 9/19 to add: Do not Chain 1 at the end of row 10. When you get to the end of the row just join to first hdc of row 10.
Skirt- worked in rounds
round 1: Ch 2, DC in same st, *DC in next st, 2DC in next st* around. End 1dc in last
st.
round 2: Ch2, DC, ch1 , 2dc in joining st. *skip 2 sts (2dc, ch1, 2dc)in next st*
around. Join to ch2 of first shell.
rounds 3-10: sl st to ch1 sp, (ch2,dc, ch1, 2dc) in ch1 space. (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in each
ch 1 space around. Join to ch 2 of first shell.
round 11: sl st to ch1 space, (ch 2, 4dc) in space. Work 5dc in each space around, join.
round 12: ch 1, sc in each dc around. join, finish off.
Sleeves-
Attach yarn at middle st under arm.
rows 1-8: Ch 2, DC in each st around, join.
row 9: ch1, sc in each st around, join. finish off.
Back and neck trim-
Join yarn in the back opening of the left side, ch1, sc up the side, 3sc in corner, sc around neck, 3sc in corner, sc down right side placing 2 buttonholes evenly spaced.
finish off.

Fantastic Pattern! I made one start to finish in an afternoon/evening! It's so fast and easy, and I think it would be appropriate for a beginner with the basics down. There is a small correction in the very first row. The dc in the 4th chain and in the next 4 chains should read dc in the 4th chain, and in the next 3 chains...the skipped 3 chains forms the first dc. Other than that tiny glitch, it was totally smooth sailing from start to finish..good job on the pattern!

Thanks for the armhole tutorial. I am glad, though, that I remembered from the last time. I am making the full dress this time and I just want to say that if you make just a few rows of the skirt, then stop, it makes a very nice shirt with a nice frilly or flared out bottom for girls. i had it fine until the skirt started. i am just not sure where the stitches go after you do the ch 1 (into the joining stitch). i tried a couple of different ways and most of them had holes that looked way too big. i was doing 2 dc, ch 1 and then the last 2 dc back into the same st as the original 2dc but i don't think that's right either.
Ok, I think I figured out your problem, I hope! If it is the row 10 joining that you are having a problem with, it is not written correctly, you DO NOT Ch 1 at the end of row 10, you just finish the row and join in the first hdc. I took out the pattern and some yarn and got to work and I found that I left that part out of the pattern. Please let me know if that is your problem.

Yes, that would work. You can also try using a slightly heavier yarn with the larger hook, that will work too.

And no doubling the stitches will not work, at least I don't think it will. Try a larger hook and heavier yarn.

Its the last stitch in the row you are working. Its the ch2 (first stitch) of the previous row.
No, it means join to first stitch and the last stitch to close the skirt. Then you work the rest of the skirt in the round not back and forth.

I thought I had it right and started working on the skirt and found out that I was having trouble also on round 2 and 3. I hope you can help me with this. I made this in lavender without the long sleeves, adding two rows of 4 ch loops to create a ruffle at the neck and sleeve openings; I also added two rows of sc (with a one stitch decrease) to make the armholes smaller. It was beautiful!

this is an amazing pattern just had to thank you for it i did however not put the arms in for mine when making it and used the top part of the pattern to make a little cardi to go with it instead so it could be taken off if too warm and they look adorable together thank you again x
