Garbage Disposal

So if you have an akita you don't need a trash compactor. Just give the empty milk and egg cartons to a dog who has a little extra energy to burn off and you kill 2 birds with one stone. I'm sure the dog whisperer would love this behavior, encouraging your dogs destructive behavior is a big no-no. But it keeps him busy and quiet and I don't have to crush the garbage to get it in the can.
I have finished up knitting all of my gifts. I just have to sew the buttons on the neckwarmer for my aunt. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't have alot of gifts for my family but that is what happens when you are on a fixed income. Hopefully by next Christmas I will be gainfully employed. That is my goal for the new year.
I don't really talk about myself personally on this blog. So I'll give it a try now. In a nutshell as they say. I don't work because I suffer from clinical depression and OCD. I am on medication for both. My old meds wore off about this time last year so I am on new ones. They seem to be working well so I am looking into going back to work. I'm on SSI because the judge did not feel I was eligible for disability since I told my dr i felt "good" on the meds. So anyway, the state has a program for disabled people to go back to work. They provide job training and anything else you might need to help you on your way. I have already taken the first steps and just need to get my paperwork in so I can meet with a counselor. Hey that wasn't so hard, now you know a little more about me.
Goodnight!

Blanket Finished

I finished the blanket for my cousin and her fiance. I used TLC Essentials yarn and this pattern.
I think it came out really nice. I can't wait to give it to them. I've made this blanket before, it was the first one I ever made. I'm also making it again for me. It was started a few months ago but I had to put it down to make gifts so as soon as I'm done I'll get back to it. I'm using four colors for mine.
Now I have to go figure out how to tack down the inside lining of the pirates hat. That should be fun.
Ciao!

Still working on gifts

I managed to get another "We Call them Pirates"hat done this week. I used the same yarn but switched the main color/contrast color. This one is gray with black skulls. I like it better. So I have 3 hats to go for gifts. Two of them are for kids so they should go faster. And I am making the Odessa hat for my brothers girlfriend. Its a hat I've wanted to try for a while. I'm making it with Cascade 220 in lilac. I'm almost done with the blanket for my cousin. 2 more stripes then the border.
I sold 2 of my American Girl doll outfits to my neighbor. The etsy thing isn't going so well so I was happy to sell them and get some money for Christmas.
Ciao!

Pirate Hat done!

I finished the "We Call them Pirates" hat. This is not the one that was in the last post. I had to frog that one. Its knit on 16" circulars and I ended up pulling the floats so tight that the hat just got smaller and smaller. So Dad and I made 20" circulars. Actually Dad did most of the work. I used size 4 bamboo needles, cut them down to 4" drilled a hole in the end (Dads job) and glued weed wacker line in and Voila! 20" circulars!!! Here is the link if you are so inclined to try it. I found it in the forums at Ravelry. I dont' think you could make them any smaller then a size 4.
I'm going to make another one of these hats only reverse the colors, for my cousin for Christmas. I ordered 2 skeins of each color and only used 1 of each. I used TLC cotton for the lining. I still have to tack that down. I'm not looking forward to that part.
I'm halfway done with the blanket for my cousin, sorry no pics yet.
I think I'll cast on for the second hat tonight.
Ciao!!
